Abstract. This paper deals with a method of tin powder preparation by chemical path, to be used as oil additive. It describes the procedure of generation of tin nanoparticles from bulk metal by chemical dispersion and stabilization of droplets into a certain solvent. By X-ray diffractometry it is shown that the obtained tin powder possesses the same crystalline lattice as the bulk metal. SEM technique allows estimating that the average dimension of particles is around 30nm.
