Abstract. The load-carrying capacity performance of a journal bearing depends on lubricant characteristics, imposed geometry, shaft eccentricity and also on working conditions. In this work, a computer code has been developed to investigate the influence of the imposed circumferential waviness of a finite length journal bearing surface, on the film pressure, load-carrying capacity, attitude angle, and eccentricity ratio. The obtained numerical results were validated by numerical results obtained by Rasheed.
