Abstract. This paper reports viscosity experimental results obtained by shearing a solid paraffin bar at atmospheric pressure, under controlled temperature, on a specially devised shear head. Four temperature values were used, namely -2ºC, 2ºC,5ºC, 8ºC The experimental viscosity results are plotted against either shear rate or shear stress. These plots show that initially the viscosity increases with the shear intensity and finally it decreases abruptly showing shear thinning effects.
