Abstract. In the present study, a realistic model of lip seal is used. An elastohydodynamic analysis is developed to generate predictions of such seal operating characteristics as film thickness distribution, hydrodynamic pressure, contact and cavitation area, friction torque, and reverse leakage pumping.
